As a family owned business, Catherine Alcorn has been working at CR Engineers since its inception. Born and raised in Arizona, she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering from Arizona State University. Catherine became President of CR Engineers in 2005 and is a registered Professional Electrical Engineer in the States of Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. She has over nineteen years of experience in a wide variety of electrical and special systems design. Her areas of expertise include aviation ground lighting systems, sports and recreational lighting, electrical infrastructure, and instrumentation systems for water facilities. She is a past president of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Arizona, has previously served for 8 years on its board of directors, and currently is a corporate member of the Arizona Airports Association (AZAA) and the American Public Works Association (APWA). Catherine is a Junior Achievements (JA) volunteer and regularly teaches JA curriculum at elementary schools. Married since 1997 to John Alcorn Jr., they have two beautiful small children, Audrey and Anthony.
John G. Alcorn Jr. joined CR Engineers in 1998 and is a registered Professional Electrical Engineer in the States of Arizona, Kansas, and California. Originally from Maine, he received a full scholarship for baseball to the University of Maine. John has both a Bachelor’s of Health Science from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering from Arizona State University. He has experience in building power distribution, electrical facilities for light rail, roadway, and other transportation related projects; photovoltaic systems; and communication/security systems designs. John completed APS’s extensive design course – “APS and University of New Mexico Solar Design and NEC Code Compliance”. John serves on the board of directors for American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Arizona, and is a member of the American Public Works Association (APWA). John remains an avid loyal fan to all New England based professional sports teams as well as both the UofA Wildcats and ASU Sun Devils. John spends time coaching his children in sports and volunteers for the Fountain Hills Little League, in which CR Engineers provides sponsorship.
Kerry Leonard joined CR Engineers in 1990 - March 2013, after a short departure returned in October 2014, with over 26 years previous experience as an electrical designer, and has an expertise in low, medium, and high voltage systems, calculations, mathematics, and design. Kerry is Lighting Certified by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) and is proficient in AutoCAD and visual basic programming. With over 24 years in electrical drafting, design, and engineering, Kerry has specialized experience in both interior and exterior lighting design. Some of his experience lies in: Point-by-Point Lighting Calcs, parking lot lighting, ADOT roadway lighting, traffic signals, general illumination, sports lighting, aiming angles, light trespass, light level to IES Standards, interior/exterior lighting, landscape lighting and underwater lighting. Kerry has been involved in design of parking lots and structures, multi-use paths, armadas and restrooms, sports lighting for ball fields and courts, playgrounds, lagoon and underwater lights, amphitheater and stage lighting. Kerry has completed APS's extensive design course - "APS and University of New Mexico Solar Deign and NEC Code Compliance". Kerry is an Arizona native with interests that include BBQ, hunting and fishing.
Randy Despain has over thirty years of practical experience in the electrical construction industry and earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from Arizona State University. Randy has been with CR Engineers since 2008, and is responsible for supervising all electrical construction administration services projects. He works closely with our engineers, owners, and governmental inspection agencies to ensure a safe method of electrical installation per local and nationally recognized and adopted codes and rules of enforcement. Raised on a cattle ranch in Northern Arizona, Randy has family roots that go back five generations in Arizona. Randy is married and along with his beautiful wife Ann, they are grandparents to 4 children and 16 grandchildren. Randy is an Eagle Scout and has served as a Boy Scout Volunteer for the past 35 years, during which time he served as Scout Master for 10 years. Randy loves the outdoors and enjoys camping, outdoor cooking, hunting and fishing. Randy and his wife are service volunteers at the Randoff Center for the mentally and physically challenged in Coolidge, Arizona.
